AEC Turns 25!

Group of participants celebrating on stage

We are THRILLED to be celebrating AEC’s 25th anniversary this school year. AEC has accomplished so much in that time, achieving many major milestones such as:

  • 190 participants graduating from Leadership Academy since 2003.
  • Hosting Regional Arts Education Day since 2004, evolving into the ACTIVATE Arts Learning Conference.
  • In 2007, AEC began supporting school districts with curriculum facilitations to help expand access to arts education services for districts across SWPA.
  • In 2013 AEC established a new Evaluator role in order to better support the field of arts education with external evaluation projects.
  • In 2019, we co-created an arts learning Theory of Change with over fifty stakeholders including our advisors, youth, and professional stakeholders.
  • In 2020, we launched artlook® SWPA a free online hub created to help educators in our region immerse young people in powerful, personally relevant arts learning opportunities.
  • In 2021, we piloted AEC Networks – a private online community for arts educators with over 300 participants to date. It is invaluable for supporting our programs, sharing learning artifacts, and staying in touch between sessions.
