Celebrating Arts in Education Week!
Each year during the second week of September, Americans for the Arts leads the charge in celebrating Arts in Education Week. These seven days serve as a collective opportunity to raise awareness, take action, and inspire change for every student’s right to access quality arts education.
Here at AEC, we’re celebrating Arts in Ed Week by uplifting the power of arts partnerships in our region. Throughout the week across our social media, we’ll be sharing stories of impactful connections between arts partners and schools that are changing student lives.
The partnerships spotlighted include:
- A Young Playwrights program that has blossomed over the years due to the long-term partnership between City Theatre and PPS Allegheny
- Indigenous art experiences facilitated by Echoes of the Four Directions for third graders at Central Elementary
- Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra field trips and performance opportunities for Pittsburgh Public School students
- A Saltworks Theatre Company performance that provided meaningful representation for Hopewell Junior High students
- Sensory friendly experiences that the Lindsay Theatre and the Watson Institute are creating beyond the urban core
We are so thankful for these partnerships, and for all of the teachers, administrators, teaching artists, and arts organizations working tirelessly to get more art to more kids! We encourage folks to visit https://swpa.artlookmap.com/ to find partners who meet your specific needs using the available search filters, so that you too can continue to unlock the transformative power of the arts.
