What is artlook® SWPA?

artlook® SWPA is a no-cost, public platform that maps the people, places, and programs supporting arts education in our region. It connects schools, districts, teaching artists, and arts organizations with each other—and with families, funders, and policymakers—bringing together robust, actionable information. This is more than a map—it’s a movement. By participating in artlook® SWPA, you’re helping to ensure that every student has access to creative learning that reflects their full humanity. Whether you’re leading from a classroom or a community studio, your work matters—and deserves to be seen.

  • Platform: Publish information about arts courses, programs, staffing, facilities, and partnerships in one searchable place
  • Programs: Network and share best practices to expand, deepen, and diversify school-based arts partnerships
  • Publications: Receive a personalized report with your data to support program improvement, grant writing, and advocacy
  • Participation Stipends: Submit your profile on time to qualify for a sliding scale stipend

Join artlook® SWPA

AEC invites new schools and arts partners to join artlook® SWPA. Arts partners include both organizations and individual teaching artists who offer arts education programs and are interested in partnering with schools. Schools and arts partners in the following 11 counties are eligible to join artlook® SWPA: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Mercer, Washington, and Westmoreland. To get started, the first step is to complete the brief commitment form below.



  • Arts partners can join artlook® SWPA anytime throughout the year, though we encourage you to join and update your profile in advance of the new school year
  • Schools and districts must complete a commitment form by July 31 and are then invited to complete their profiles in the fall
  • The AEC team offers both live and asynchronous technical assistance to support you along the way!
